Easter on the River 2012

Well off we headed on Good Friday down to Freo in a convoy with Marty & Kylie and Kids and Jaymon & Bec and kids and we pulled up in front of the Mussell Bar for the evening. Brett, Linda and Kids met us there and we enjoyed some drinks and nibbles on Shell Shocked. We then moved on the Marty's boat where a feast was cooked up by Brett and we pigged out. A homeless busker then came along the jetty and the boys decided to befriend him and invite him onto "our" boat to play a couple of songs. He "Storm" stayed quite some time and Jaymon encouraged him to get off the boat and play some more songs and finally he went on his way. So this night I did not sleep that well as I was waiting for our homeless friend to return. Anyway the next morning we woke up to a beautiful morning and we went for a walk and then had a yummy brekkie. It was then off to the river for some more fun. Our first stop was deep water point where we cruised around on the dinghys and had some lunch. We then headed off to set up for the evening on the South Perth foreshore in front of Coco's. It was a glorious day and evening and we went up to the Windsor to watch the footy and have a couple of drinks. After that it was back to our own boats for some dinner and then everyone came onto our boat for a couple of drinks. Bec and the kids stayed on their boat and watched tele as they were tired and all the kids were on our boat watching a movie.
The next day we spent the morning in the river and then we headed off to go to Garden Island - Jaymon and Bec were ahead of us and

Our week at Rotto March 2012

Well our first full week at Rottnest and we left on the 10th March 2012 and the weather was awesome - very hot - reached 42 degrees on the Sunday and when we arrived in Thomo Bay Jaymen was there to meet us on the Brig - he had come over with the boys - and he helped us get a mooring for the night. Nathan & Nat (I think that is their names they are friends of Jaymen and Bec's) also joined us for a drink on the boat. After they left that afternoon we set up and Mark & Deanne arrived and their boys were also here on their other boat. We went to shore where Andrew, Brent & Jason had befriended some other boaties and they were having a few drinks & we then went to the pub for a meal as we hadnt eaten all day. That night was a little windy and rocky but very hot so nice. The next day we went and visited the Pedley's and had a drink with them and then back to the boat to just enjoy. It was super hot and so calm so we had our dinner then enjoyed a drink with Mark & Deanne on their boat and just enjoyed the serenity. That night was the calmest we had ever known it in Thompson bay but all night we just knocked into the mooring which kept us up a bit. The next day we headed to Geordie where we spent the next week with the Pedley's and also Roland & Sam were over their in their new Riviera - "Riv Raff" so there were a couple of big nights on the turps and lots of laughs. The days were awesome and we spent alot of time on the beach and just enjoying Rotto. Andrea and I went running/walking every morning and took the kids to Thompson on their bikes a couple of times. A few crays were caught by Geoff and one night the kids caught a heap of herring off of the back of Rol's boat. We had a couple of dolphin visitors in the bay which was awesome. The bay was pretty empty for most of the week and of course the weekend came and quite a few boats came into the bay and Geoff had to move off his mooring a couple of times and we were just heading into town and we got a call at 4.45pm Saturday to move our boat as the owner had arrived and he wanted his mooring. We left on the Sunday about 1pm and had a great trip home.

Australia Day 2012 - 4 days at Rotto

Well we decided to spend Australia Day 2012 over at Rotto in Geordie Bay. Well what an awesome four days we had and Chris & Blair joined us and also Bec & Jaimon and the kids so we had several drinks on Australia Day and headed to the pub to see if we could watch the fireworks but it was raining on the mainland so didn't get to see any of it. Tim & Matthew went out fishing every day and Tim managed to catch a Bulching groper which was very yummy. We went out one day on the big tenders to Eagle Bay where you can see Matthew jumping off the rocks - scary stuff!!! We also dropped in on Garma and Sarah who were staying in Narrowneck. On the Friday the ocean was like an oil slick - sooooo calm so we headed round to Parker point and enjoyed the water and sun over there. We headed back to Geordie as Blair & Chris had to head home and that night we watched a movie and just chilled out. Headed home on the Saturday and was greeted with a "Reported vehicle" sticker on my car with the possibility of it being towed away. Some one with no life decided to report it as it had been there more than 24 hours. Other than that it was another awesome trip with no problems although when we first went into Geordie we ended up with the tender caught around a mooring with a grump ass man yelling at us but once we sorted that out everything else went great!!!

12th January 2012 - 14th January 2012

Well another visit to wonderful Rottnest as the weather was too good to miss out on. Dom & Amy came over with us and we went to the pub for a drink and then back to the boat for dinner and watching Timmy and Matty fishing in their ugly stick hats. It was a little rough sleeping that night with a howling easterley but off to the Dome we went for breakfast and then Dom & Amy took the boys on the bus around the island. Marty and Kylie and kids came over in the afternoon so met up with them for a drink and then Dad & Morris came to visit after a successful fishing day and also to pick Amy & Dom up to take them home. We stayed the Friday night and still a bit rough but not too bad. Really hot and sat out in our blow up chairs catching some rays while the boys jumped of the jetty and off Marty's boat. We also made friends with one of the local pelicans and gave him all of our fish that we did not want to eat and he loved them. Home we came on the Saturday and it was like a mill pond. Everything ran smoothly with the newly fixed alternators doing their thing. We came back early as we were off to Thierry and Julia's for a boozy night with the T & C gang!!

Boxing Day 2011 - to the 29th December 2011

So off to Rottnest we headed on Boxing day with our new Tender in tow and we were very excited. Spent the first day swimming and hanging round the boat and caught up with Roland and Sammy and kids on the boat. Matthew and Tim were taking them back to shore and an accident occurred with the dinghy hitting the prop of another dinghy. Not happy Jan!!! So Tim was so disappointed and that afternoon we tried to patch it up. The next day Chris gave us a hand and managed to put a descent patch on it and this kept it up with us having to top up the air every few hours. We were in Thompson bay and we had to move 3 times as we were on someone's mooring and on the last time we left the umbrella up and it ripped out of the Marlin board which was not good. So we were having our fair share of incidents but nothing would put a damper on Tim's birthday which we had round at Stark bay which was really gorgeous. A good day was had by all and many drinks were drank. The next day we went round to Thompson Bay on the Tender with Jaymon and then around to Parker point. It was then time to head on home so back to Mindarie we went. About a nautical mile out from Mindarie all instruments stopped working as the battery lost all charge. We put the generator on and this got most of the instruments up and running enough for us to get back and into the pen thank goodness!!! It was discovered that both of the alternators had gone and needed fixing. So all in all we had a fun time.
